Jim Edwards

Jim is a registered Landscape Architect, a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, and a licensed real estate sales associate who also specializes in tax increment financing, historic tax credits and public infrastructure improvements. As a consultant to the Worldwide Prestige Group, Jim brings an expertise gained from decades of experience in development, redevelopment, and the general improvement of challenged downtowns and urban neighborhoods.

A native of Lakeland and graduate of both the University of Florida and Florida State University, Jim served as Director of the Lakeland Community Redevelopment Agency (LCRA) and the Lakeland Downtown Development Authority (LDDA) from 1987 until 2000. He has been instrumental not only in the revitalization of downtown Lakeland’s historic properties, but the restoration of historic properties in other communities as well.

His private sector consulting experience includes working with firms involved in planning and engineering, architecture, and real estate development. He has assisted multiple communities with historic district surveys and nominations, including the South Lake Morton Historic District in Lakeland and participated in the revitalization of the Lake Mirror Promenade from 1978 until 2000, during which time he authored its National Register Nomination.
