Moving the Craftsman Bungalow
In June 2021, Prestige Worldwide Group relocated a 1921 craftsman bungalow from 721 East Orange St., to 711 East Lime St., in the downtown historic district in Lakeland, FL. The bungalow style house was in disrepair and facing demolition. A team with specialized experience in the relocation of historic structures gave this century-old house a second chance.
Along the way, the team was careful to ensure the safety and integrity of the house and worked with the city in closing streets, protecting street lights, power lines, and telephone poles, as well as navigating carefully around tight turns and tall trees.
Now at its new location, the restoration process will begin. With projects such as this, Gregory Fancelli and Prestige Worldwide Group continue to change the face of Lakeland with the preservation and restoration of properties within the historic districts of Lakeland.

“Historic preservation is a conversation with our past about our future. It provides us with opportunities to ask, “What is important in our history?” and “What parts of our past can we preserve for the future?” Through historic preservation, we look at history in different ways, ask different questions of the past, and learn new things about our history and ourselves. Historic preservations is an important way for us to transmit our understanding of the past to future generations.
History has may facets, and historic preservation helps tell these stories. Sometimes historic preservation involves celebrating events, people, places, and ideas that we are proud of; other times it involves recognizing moments in our history that can be painful or uncomfortable to remember.”
